According to his Civil War Pension file, the marriage was not a happy one and they separated. After his death, she claimed his pension allotment.1,9 Reuben Smith Donohue appeared on the census of 1 January 1920 at Cologne, Mason County, West Virginia; Reuben, 77, [listed as R.S.
